According to reports from Spanish outlet Marca (the Metro in English), Manchester United star David De Gea has a £52 million release present on his current contract at Old Trafford.
David De Gea has arguably established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the world since joining Manchester United from Atletico Madrid back in the summer of 2011 and it is no secret that Spanish giants Real Madrid are keen admirers of the 26-year-old.
Real Madrid were indeed very close to securing the services of De Gea at last summer after agreeing a deal with United for the custodian on transfer deadline day but the move collapsed under the most extraordinary of circumstances.
Due to the failure to submit the required fax documents in time, De Gea’s prospective transfer to the Santiago Bernabeu did not come into fruition and following the saga, United moved quickly to secure the future of the goalkeeper by tying him down to a new four year deal.
Despite De Gea penning the new contract though, speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid simply refuses to die down and although United are not under the same pressure to sell as they were last season, there is still a possibility that the Spaniard could leave Old Trafford if Los Blancos revive their interest.
Now in news which is certain to worry the Manchester United fans, it has been revealed by Spanish publication Marca that De Gea has a £52 million release present on his contract at the moment and such a revelation most certainly could interest Madrid.
The report also adds that the defending European champions are plotting to sign De Gea in 2018 when the goalkeeper enters the final year of his contract at United and it will certainly be interesting to follow the developments surrounding the Spanish number one in the coming transfer windows.
One can only imagine how Marca were able to get hold of such confidential information but if indeed true, United will surely have to start looking for a quality replacement for a keeper of De Gea’s stature very soon.
