Manchester United will be able to sign wonderkid for £20 million

time target Leon Bailey for a fee of around £20 million.

Bailey has emerged as one of the most promising young players in Europe following his exploits for Belgian giants Genk since making his breakthrough in 2014 and as a result of his fine performances over the years, the teenager has grabbed the attention of a host of top clubs across Europe.

Premier League giants Manchester United have widely been linked with a move for Bailey and it is believed that manager Jose Mourinho could look to make a swoop for the young attacker as he looks to turn his side’s struggles around.

However, Genk clearly would not want to part with their prized asset anytime soon and one can be sure that Manchester United will have to splash the cash in order to convince the Belgian outfit into selling the youngster.

In addition, Bailey himself has gone on to play down the possibility of signing for Manchester United due to his belief that he might not get regular minutes on the pitch at Old Trafford immediately.

Bailey was quoted saying to Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws, “I’ve always dreamt of the Premier League. But if, let’s say, Man United can’t guarantee me minutes, I will stay at Genk.

“The important thing is that in the near future there a lot of games to come. This is essential for me because I have to take more steps. I’ve already made a lot of progress.”

Nonetheless, United are unlikely to be deterred and they might just ramp up their pursuit for Bailey upon the revelations that the Jamaican international will now be available for around £20 million – if reports from the Daily Mail are to be believed.

Manchester United have spent extortionate amounts to sign young players such as Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba recently and at £20 million, the Red Devils may well not be put off by the admittedly sizeable price tag for Bailey.

That said, the teenager has already stated that he will not join United if he is not guaranteed regular first team football and there are a lot of doubts as to whether manager Jose Mourinho will agree to such demands, especially considering all the talent at his disposal at the moment.
